Flawless from start to finish. Most people say Dr. Octagon is Keith's best album, but I have to put this one above it. "Rockets on the Battlefield", "Supergalactic Lover" and "I'm Seein' Robots" stand out as particularly strong tracks. No one other than Keith could have made music like this.

Bought this on vinyl in Chicago the week it came out. Sound is amazing, still sounds amazing 16 years later. No pressing issues, maybe I was just lucky.

Disagree with one of the previous comments, "I'm Seein' Robots" is the greatest thing on the album! Bump it in your ride one time with a real set of subs to know it. "Rockets On The Battlefield", "Livin' Astro", "Maxi Curls", "The Girls Don't Like The Job", and "Black Elvis" are also tremendous. The letdown is "Supergalactic Lover". "Master Of The Game" is OK lyrically but the participation from Roger just doesn't work - but I understand why they tried it. Bow down to Zapp, y'all. Bow down.

I'm standing up for this one. I don't see how anyone could take this seriously enough to give it a bad rating. It's silly, obviously, but i rank it up there with Dr. Dooom etc. This album serves it's purpose as a very light and funky hip-hop album, with comical and brilliant rhyming and some great music. Bits remind me of lots of Bootsy and Parliament space stuff. Lots of super cheesy bits but it all kind of works in the Bootsy context. Very "poppy" but some of his best work is on here, this guy just isn't trying to be hard and serious.

Having previously had a coupe of dodgy pressings of this, and never having owned or seen a copy in full working order I wondered if there were any that did play properly?I can't remember which but one side plays twice.
Dishadel
I have a flawless copy

My copy do have a pressing error, but is not missing any songs. The problem is that on the intro, there's a huge white thing stuck on the grooves, like cement or something. I tried everything to remove it but nothing worked. At least it's just the intro, but for the amount I paid for it (it was a still sealed copy), I'm disappointed.

I don't own it anymore, but my copy did have all the numbers for sure. There was nothing missing and no side played twice. Everything as it should be.
Cildorais
I've never been able to find it on vinyl without that pressing error. No side 1, and side 4 twice! Shame, cos there are some good tracks missing...

I too got this album when it came out not actually knowing a lot about it at the time. I listened to it a lot and liked it, thought it sounded kinda futuristic and apart from a few tracks it was all good... Fast forward. I picked up the album after not touching it for years. Although I am much more demanding musically these days, still like this lp. It takes off very well with the 'Intro', classic. Going through tracks 2 and 3 'Livin' Astro' is one of the highlights for me. Love the bass and it's got the attitude man! Then 'Master Of The Game' is another one. At track 7 'I'm Seein' Robots' is a low point, possibly the weakest on the album. 'Static' with Sadat X is great, 'Black Elvis', throuh to 'Fine Girls'. Now this one sounds to me not whole, somehow just not ready, not really into it. Then a couple of good tracks, but not sure about the last track. I think could have closed the album a bit more memorably. All in all it is a strong release and is musical enough and manages to conserve the 'Dr Octagon feeling' taking it into another direction. It stands the test of ten years. A must have for a Kool Keith fan and recommended for discoverers.

I bought this CD when it came out and probably listened to it once back then, so I thought I would give it another go, but sadly I am now in two minds as if to keep it or sell it. Most of the CD isn't all that good but on the other hand KK really does his best to go back to his Ultra days with the rap on "Maxi Curls" very much sounding like "Poppa Large" (Shame the chorus sucks though) and the Track he does with Sadat X "Static" isn't too bad. In fact as I've already bought I'll keep it for the few tracks that are OK, but i'll give a low rating.
