Time: Tuesdays 9:30 – 11:30 Term 1: 28th Feb – 4 April Term 2: 2nd May – 6th June Location: The Gather Studio – Mount Lawley Suitable for all levels Learn the art of working with liquid clay and create your own tableware. Over 6 weeks students will learn to create one-piece plaster molds and the science behind creating slip (liquid clay) and casting. By the end of the 6 weeks, students will have approximately 6 matching pieces to take home, the plaster mold, and all the knowledge to continue slip casting at home. On the first class we make the form out of clay and a plaster mold. Over the following three weeks students will learn the science of slip, how to colour slip, and create multiple casts. Week 5 we will glaze or decorate our work, and week 6 will be finishing up pieces with a sanding bath, a glass of champagne and admiring everyone’s creations. The course includes: – 12 hours of tuition – All material (except for stains and underglazes as there are so many colours to choose from) – Bisque and glaze firing – Hopefully at least 6 or so pieces to take home – The plaster mold to keep creating the pieces. – All the knowledge needed to continue slipcasting at home Cost: $350
